The GFG 16-WEEK MUSIC PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
A 'from start to stage' music program that delivers a real-world music performance experience where participants 'graduate' by performing in a band to a ticket buying audience at an F&B venue that features live music.
Two hours, once a week for 16 weeks excluding self-practice time. Participants must attend all of the weekly sessions.
This is an on-site program that is conducted at a music studio in Sri Hartamas for 13 of the 16 weeks. For the other 3 weeks, 2 will be at popular jam session venues in town while the final week will be the concert venue which will be a real-world venue that regularly features live performances. Participants are required to make their own way to these respective locations for all the sessions.
RM4,000 per pax for Early Bird sign ups. Otherwise it's RM5,000 per pax. For participants who sign up as a band, each gets 10% off. This includes all program materials, event and venue costs but excludes participants own travel and other incidental costs.
There is no minimum (or maximum) age but participants must have sufficient vocal or instrument skills and be able to work independently in a band setting without supervision. Priority is given to participants who have never performed to a public audience before. This is not a course to learn how to play an instrument thus some basic music skills are still required at the very least.
Individual sign ups may be placed to form a new band or join an existing one.
Yes. All prospective participants need to submit a video of themselves performing (vocal or instrument) for us to see what proficiency level they are at. Once selected, each participant is required to sign a contract of commitment to the program. Selected participants will be required to pay the program fees to secure their spot.
Yes they do for self-practice sessions. However, for the 2 jam sessions and 1 concert, instruments can be provided subject to prior notice.
That participant must discuss with their respective band mates (and mentor if that week's session involves one) to change the time or date. Missing 2 or more sessions may result in that participant being disqualified from the program or concert.
Definitely. The experience of a performance to a paying crowd in a real world setting; and encouragement of applause from a supportive community... this is something no academic achievement can deliver. This program is the Yang to the Yin that is academics. And it will greatly benefit their confidence. Plus the benefit it brings, in terms of music education sponsorship, to the underprivileged adds to the positive impact of this program.
